Project Details

Raston Group were engaged by Taylor construction to provide the electrical services associated with the Refurbishment of an existing theatre and a new build of a 3 level educational building. The new building consisted of 3 specialist immersive classrooms for animal habitation & Student interaction, Laboratories for scientist, research facilities, teaching spaces, aviaries and animal exhibits.

The project was taken on, on a design and construct (D&C) basis and was executed as a specialised fit-for-purpose facility under the guidelines of the client. This project was awarded 6 star environmental rating from the Green Building Council of Australia and is the first zoo in Australia to achieve carbon neutral status six years ahead of schedule.

Raston Group adhered to strict guidelines to help achieve the 6 stars. In house designs and reports were completed and include but are not limited to; Lighting isoplot lux levels, lighting pollution, energy metering & Monitoring , PVC schedules, waste management and service and maintainability reports.

Working closely with the builder, Taylor Constructions, we were able to see this concept grow into a complete and fully functioning facility.
